The First Advanced Recycling Reward Project
The Project: Adoption of reverse vending machines (“RVM”) with point redemption scheme
Client: Environmental Association
Year: 2019
The Highlights
The first ever trial programme in Hong Kong to collect community multi-recyclables with the adoption of reverse vending machines (“RVM”) and point redemption scheme with a view to analyse the business viability and collection efficiency of such collection model.
In order to enhance community participation in waste reduction and recycling, Cornerstone set up Recycling stations (Reverse Vending Machine, RVM) with incentive/rewards in various communities to encourage public to recycle at these stations for sorted materials.
The RVM developed and provided by Cornerstone collects 2 types of recyclables (including: aluminium cans and plastic beverage bottles) featured with auto-sorting function. Our station records recycling history and user recycling habits data which believe could help the entire community to get prepared for the municipal solid waste (MSW) charging that will be taken effective soon.
In order to get more attentions from the public on topic related to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation, endangered species and messages are written on the wrapping design.
