Food Waste Collection at East Point City

Food waste is a significant amount of the city’s municipal solid waste, and over half comes from domestic households. To support residential buildings in adopting smart bins technology in #foodwaste collection and recycling, EPD x Recycling Fund have promoted a Recycling Fund Solicitation Scheme.
East Point City is installing Smart Food Waste Recycling Bins #SmartClassify from Cornerstone. 4 Smart Bins have been set up for residents to separate food waste at source. Residents are now enabled to download the “Green$” mobile app for points.

Domestic Food Waste Recycling Steps
1. Remove non-food waste 2. Drain liquids from the food waste 3. Use a small container or a plastic bag to bring food waste to collection point 4. Pour food waste into Smart Food Waste Recycling Bins

Recyclables
Raw, cooked, leftover or spoiled food is ‘recyclable food waste’.

• Wheat & Grains: rice, pasta/noodles, flour, bread, oats
• Fruits & Vegetables: fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, beans & their products (including peelings, cores, pips)
• Meats: pork, beef, seafood, poultry & their products (including innards, scales, small bones)
• Residues: tea leaves, soup pulp, coffee grounds, chinese medicinal pulp
• Others: dairy products, dim sums, pastries, snuts, sauces

Non-recyclables
If you have doubt, please ask staff or avoid putting it into food waste bin.

• General Waste: packaging, straws, cans, utensils/containers, glass bottles, teabags, tissue paper, toothpicks
• Watery Food: soup, porridge, drinks
